IBFAN-ICDC releases Code Essentials 1 & 2 (2nd edition) to help effective Code implementation

With the support of UNICEF East Asia & Pacific regional office, IBFAN-ICDC has recently revised its Code Essentials 1 and 2 (Code Essentials 1: Annotated International Code & Subsequent WHA Resolutions  and Code Essentials 2: Guidelines for Policy Makers) – part of a four-book series that provide clear and practical guidance based on decades of professional and advocacy experience on supporting countries on Code implementation. Each Code Essential has a special focus to help legislators, policy makers, health educators/workers, regulators and compliance staff, and breastfeeding and public health advocates alike on how to effectively implement the International Code.

Code Essential 1  is a general guide to the International Code that clearly explains each provision with annotation, and integrates main points of all subsequent relevant WHA resolutions (up to 2016) and relevant global recommendations into the analysis of the Code.
Code Essential 2  is a guide for legislators and policy makers on how to best implement the International Code. An updated Model Law is included as reference text for countries to adapt and emulate accordingly. Issues such as trade, human rights, HIV/AIDS, and emergency situations are also discussed.
